How do I wash and care for lawn and chikankari suits?
Wash lawn and chikankari suits gently: hand wash or use a delicate machine cycle in cold water with a mild detergent, turning the garment inside out to protect the embroidery. Avoid bleach, hard wringing and long soaking.
- Dry in shade, not direct sun, to keep colours from fading.
- Iron on a medium setting; iron chikankari from the reverse so the raised stitches stay crisp.
- Store folded and dry, away from damp.
What is the difference between lawn, cotton and cambric?
Lawn, cotton and cambric are all cotton-based fabrics that differ mainly in weight and weave. Lawn is the lightest and finest, ideal for peak summer; plain cotton is a little heavier with a matte feel; cambric is a denser, smoother cotton that suits spring and mild winter.

A standard dupatta is about 2.5 metres long — enough to drape over the shoulders or head with fabric to spare. In an unstitched 3 piece lawn suit the dupatta usually comes as a 2.5-metre piece in chiffon, net, organza or lawn, matched to the shirt and trouser.
